Terms Used In This Document

  • 'We' and 'our' - The Music Initiative

  • 'Music Tuition' - Class lessons, Individual lessons, and Workshops provided by The Music Initiative

  • 'Tutor' - The person providing Music Tuition on behalf of The Music Initiative

  • 'Student' - The individual receiving the Music Tuition

  • 'Class' - Small group based lesson program

  • 'Individual' - Private individual between a Tutor and one Student

Academic Year

We provide continuous music tuition over a 43 week Academic year which incorporates the following breaks:

  • 2 week break during the School End of Year Holidays

  • 2 week break during the School Easter Holidays

  • 5 week break during the School Summer Holidays

Workshops and additional tuition will be available during the Easter and Summer breaks for any students who wish to continue music tuition during these breaks.

Payment Terms

Payment is required by the beginning of every month, for all Music Tuition scheduled for that month. For example, we would expect payment by the beginning of September for all class and individual lessons scheduled for September.

For convenience, all fees are paid by automatic debit using *stored card details at the beginning of every month.

Late Payment may result in a late payment fee which will be automatically added to the next Invoice.

*Stored card details are used solely for the automatic payment of monthly invoices. The Music Initiative cannot access or view stored card details.

Books and Materials

Classes : New books and lesson materials are included in the fixed monthly fee charged for our weekly Music Tuition classes.

Individual Lessons : New books and lesson materials are not included in the cost of Individual lessons. When new books and materials are required, the Tutor will either:

  • Supply the new books and materials, with the cost added to the next Invoice

  • Provide a supplier link where the required books and materials can be purchased

No Food or Drink in Teaching Rooms

No food or drink is allowed in teaching rooms for Health and Safety reasons. The only exception is water contained in a bottle or flask with a screw top or sports cap.

Please note: We strongly encourage students to bring water with them to maintain hydration and focus, but as specified above, water must be in a bottle or flask with a screw top or sports cap.  

Termination of Music Tuition

One month's notice is required to terminate any Music Tuition provided by The Music Initiative, or one month's fee will be payable in lieu of the notice given.

Tutor Sickness and Absence

If a Tutor is unable to teach a lesson due to sickness or absence, the Tutor will organise a make-up lesson.

Class Student Sickness and Absence

If a Class Student is sick or absent, the Tutor will send the student any required homework and materials. When the Student is able, the Student can send their completed homework along with a video of a practice session for the Tutor to review.

Please note: There are no refunds or credits for missed class tuition.

Individual Lesson Student Sickness and Absence

If a Student is sick or absent for an Individual Lesson, the Tutor will send the student any required homework and materials. When the Student is able, the Student can send their completed homework along with a video of a practice session for the Tutor to review.

Please note: A minimum of 24 hours notice is required should a Student wish to cancel an Individual Lesson due to sickness or absence. Should sufficient cancellation notice be provided, a credit for the cancelled lesson will be applied to their next Invoice.
